Christmas Party

It's Coming!!!

Are you the person in the office charged with ensuring that every single person has the BEST office Christmas party ever? What a responsibility! Every year, thousands of people across the country face the dilemma of how to provide an experience that will keep both Margaret from accounts and Tom in Customer Services happy. No mean feat.

So what options are available in Bristol this year that might tempt you?

The Party Night:

Hotels across the city have created party nights where you can join other businesses for an evening of dinner, drinks and partying. These are usually quite dressy events, so everyone can get on their glad-rags and give it a bit of sparkle. There are often themes attached to these events, everything from cabaret to casino, so it’s worth having a look around to see what’s on offer that would appeal. We’ve found a couple of great options; Winter Wonkaland at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, a chocolate themed evening where you are welcomed by Willy Wonka himself and Journey to the Moon, which includes a Casino and acrobats. Both of these also have the ubiquitous disco so you can shake your thang with the CEO. If you want something a little more low key, there are some great 70’s and 80’s disco party nights with a cocktail and dinner included from less than £30 per person.

The Luncheon:

If you prefer a more genteel Christmas party for your office, why not treat yourselves to a gourmet experience at one of Bristol’s many gorgeous eateries? The diversity in Bristol is second to none. There is a myriad of beautiful restaurants to choose from covering pretty much every nationality going. We have so many favourites it’s hard to choose who we would recommend, however just a few of our top picks are Wilks in Redland, Hotel du Vin in the city centre (always a favourite with a great seasonal menu), Poco, who were awarded “Best Casual Dining” restaurant for 2017. There’s also our absolute favourite place for a burger – whether that be beef, mackerel or chicken – Hubbox on Whiteladies Road. They also do arguably the best mac n’ cheese in Bristol. Those of a more delicate disposition [and children to get home to!] can have a gorgeous lunch and then tootle off home, whilst the hard-core party goers head on out for a night on the town, and no doubt suffer a rather tender head in the office the next day. Just think of the satisfaction of being clear headed whilst all around you are in the horrors.

The Experience:

Lots of companies look to combine their Christmas party with a team building day, mixing business with pleasure. We love the Plum Cooking School in Clifton Village where you can cook as a team all morning, learn new dishes and techniques, and then sit down together to eat your results. It’s a fun, informal day and so yummy too [hopefully!] Or, how about a brain stretching day at Locked In A Room on the Harbourside? Teams have to solve clues and puzzles to get themselves out. Fabulous for team building and building up an appetite. Other options could be a treasure hunt, finishing at a venue for dinner or how about a cocktail, floristry or gin masterclass at The Florist on Park Street – lots to appeal to everyone.

Whatever you decide to do for your Christmas event, whether it’s a mad night out or a decorous do, it’s good to remember that it’s about the people that you share your working life with and celebrating the festive season all together. Chin chin!!
