Urban Splash were tasked with bringing the historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth back into action as a mixed-use commercial and residential space. As a Grade II listed ex-Royal Navy victualling yard, surrounded by premium housing, a careful strategy was needed to unlock this location’s true value — something that hadn’t been achieved by the previously appointed international property agency.
We created a new destination for leisure, dining and retail, which in turn has created a new economy for Plymouth.
Initially, Urban Splash asked us to deliver an occupier strategy. Our partnership really began to prosper when we showed that we had the skills and stamina to help them unearth the Yard’s true potential.
We conceptualised, designed and managed a number of renovations to create a stylish dining space that was sensitive to the property’s heritage — and that wouldn’t disturb the neighbours. We then lined up a range of fashionable eateries and handled all leasing negotiations and contracts to get them up and running
Now home to a number of premium and celebrity restaurants, Royal William Yard has become a sophisticated new eating quarter in Plymouth — and one of the finest places to dine in the country. We continue to provide support wherever it’s needed, maintaining the right tenants, brand image and customer experience.
“We’re so proud of what we’ve achieved at the Yard. Insight’s ability to see beyond the bricks and mortar was pivotal. Since then, their support with everything from identifying the right brand concept to managing lease negotiations has been both professional and proactive. They are not your usual property agents – they offer something different, which has worked a treat in Plymouth.”
